A little history
Dave Mayfield, jazz radio personality at KEWU in Cheney WA, first conceived of the idea of forming a big band that specialized in performing contemporary big band jazz in 2003. He approached band leader David Cooper of Hayden, ID with the idea and soon a new jazz movement began. In the beginning the ensemble rehearsed in Twin Lakes Golf Club, but quickly the word about great jazz being played drew musicians from all around the area and Jazz Northwest found a new home in the music room of Post Falls High School. Every Tuesday evening at 7:00 great jazz can be heard at Post Falls High School.
